
Dr. Karthika S.B Dr Karthika S.Bholds a doctorate in movie adaptations of Shakespeare from MG University. She has also completed her MA,B Ed, M Phil,UGC-NET, SET and KTET. She was born in Kovur in Kollam district of Kerala as the daughter of renowned critic Dr. R Bhadran and NS Sulekha. Her first book, “Malayala Vimarshanathile Bhadramargam” on the critical legacy of her father was released in 2019 January. She has published innumerable poems, short stories, and critical essays in her literary career .She has prestigiously bagged the first prize in the State level essay competition of 2015.She has also to her account,the 2016 Bharatheeya Dalit Sahitya Academy’s Dr.BR Ambedkar Sahitya Shri National Award. The quadricentennial of the great Bard of Avon has been observed very recently, in 2016. Yet the staging of Shakespeare’s plays continue unabated over the world—in diverse cultures and in a variety of modes. Such is the influence of “[t]he greatest genius that perhaps human nature has yet produced” as Coleridge has once remarked. The range and depth of Shakespeare’s plays and its universality continues to enthrall audience across the globe. In the 21st century, Shakespeare is more familiar to the general public with the celluloid versions of his plays, which falls under the genre of ‘adaptations’.
